Dear friends and colleagues
We are very happy to welcome you in Granada on behalf of the EASP and the organizing team for the 18th General Meeting of the European Association of Social Psychology. The meeting will take place from the 5th to the 8th of July, 2017.
Granada was the last Arab kingdom in Europe, conquered by the Catholic Monarchs in 1492 and has an incredible historical-artistic heritage. For several centuries it was an example of coexistence of people of various cultures (Jewish, Muslim, and Christian). Still today Moorish and Christian features can be found in the streets of Granada. The palace and gardens of the Alhambra and the Generalife, together with the Albaicín neighborhood, have the UNESCO World Heritage designation. The Tropical Coast is just thirty minutes’ drive south of the city and the variety of the region’s and city’s cultural program will make your visit to Granada a memorable one. Granada is also easily accessible by plane and road. Furthermore, Malaga international airport is 100 kms away from Granada. Among the many facilities available there are many hotels and other kinds of accommodation within walking distance of the Conference Center.
The University of Granada, one of the oldest in Europe, was founded in 1531, under the initiative of the Emperor Carlos V. In this way, Granada asserted its vocation as a university city which was opened to different cultures, people, and beliefs.
All in all, Granada is a privileged city for a social psychology meeting to take place.
We hope this next EASP General Meeting will attract a growing number of researchers who want to present their research to colleagues. The scientific committee has opened the call for proposals of symposia, blitz presentations, and posters. We expect this General Meeting to continue the line of growth and quality in the research presented in previous General Meetings. In addition, we will have the traditional round table sessions during lunch break, the award sessions, including the Tajfel lecture and the newly instated Moscovici and Horizon lectures, and the members meeting on Friday afternoon. The scientific program will start on the morning of Wednesday July 5th, and end in the evening of Saturday July 8. The social program also has its recurring elements, including a welcome reception on Wednesday evening, the football match, a night visit to the Alhambra and the conference dinner on Saturday evening. Please note that the conference dinner this time is sponsored by the EASP to celebrate its 50th anniversary, so that as many members as possible can join this celebration.
The conference will take place at the Granada Conference and Exhibition Centre, located at the heart of the city center and within a short distance walking of many hotels and other facilities.
Welcome to Granada! ¡Bienvenidos a Granada!
